2. Cable Sleeve for the Vertical Run

The tray solves the horizontal mess. The drop from desk to floor is a separate problem. A neoprene wrap sleeve pulls the whole bundle into one soft tube, which stops the vacuum grabbing individual cords.

Picture this: one grey rope going down the desk leg instead of six black spaghetti strands. Small change, big visual difference.

3. Adhesive Clips for the Desk Edge

For the two cables you unplug constantly, the phone cable and the headphone cable, a tray is the wrong tool. Clip them to the desk edge instead so they stay within reach.

Adhesive-backed clips are the weak point. Owner reports describe pads letting go in rooms that run hot, which tells you something about adhesive ratings without air conditioning. If your room runs warm, use the clamp brackets instead.

How I Set Mine Up, In Order

1. Unplug everything and let the cables hang free for ten minutes so they relax.
2. Mount the tray first, empty.
3. Put the power strip in, plug in only what you need daily.
4. Coil slack in figure-eights, not tight loops, then tie loosely with velcro.
5. Sleeve the vertical drop last.

Do it in that order and you will not redo it.

What I Would Skip

Zip ties. They look tidy for a month and then you need scissors every time your setup changes, which for most of us is often. Velcro straps cost slightly more and you can reuse them forever.

Also skip the very cheap plastic trays. Mine bowed under a power strip inside a week and I replaced it with the steel version.
